Leigh, BFI among continuing flow of waste offenders

The rate of prosecutions for waste offences is showing little sign of abating since the formation of the Environment Agency. Recent cases have brought two leading waste firms before the courts, further evidence of inconsistent sentencing with one persistent fly-tipper being jailed but a second escaping with a small fine - and a novel excuse from a landfill manager for a spate of fires on his site.
