Cancer warning follows record ozone depletion

Increased levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation caused by depletion of the ozone layer are likely to result in a 4-10% increase in skin cancers in the UK, a report sponsored by the Department of the Environment (DoE) has warned.1 A second report notes that record low levels of ozone occurred over northern Europe in March and warns of significantly lower levels in future - as well as an acceleration of global warming as the ozone layer recovers.2
