Government opposes energy ratings for homes at £15 a shot

A Bill to require mortgage lenders to carry out energy rating surveys of domestic premises before granting mortgages received an unopposed second reading in the House of Lords on 5 December. Its promoter claimed that the service would cost no more than £15 per survey - but the Government is set to oppose the Bill on the grounds that it would impose unacceptable costs on lenders.
