Shell subsidiary fined £26,000 for acid gas release

Shell subsidiary Synthetic Chemicals (Northern) has paid nearly £39,000 in fines and costs after 18 people suffered breathing problems caused by a release of sulphuric acid mist from its plant in Knottingley, West Yorkshire.
