Sweden sets the agenda for tomorrow's chemicals policy

Far-reaching changes in chemicals policy have been recommended by an official committee in Sweden. Its central proposal is a rapid phase-out of chemicals exceeding stringent criteria for persistence and bioaccumulation, with toxicity being dropped as an action trigger. The report will be used by the Swedish Government to push for reforms in the EC's chemicals policy.
