High Court about faces on ICI's Peak Park limestone quarry

Arguing that the case before him was "a classic example of the conflict between economic necessity and the preservation of outstandingly attractive landscape", Deputy Judge Sir Douglas Frank QC ruled, on 21 June, that Mr Peter Shore (former Secretary of State for the Environment) had failed to impose valid planning conditions on ICI's development proposals for a limestone quarry in the Peak District National Park.
