Oil and car industries quarrel over fuel quality and catalysts

A battle between the oil and motor industries over the sulphur content of fuels has intensified as negotiations on an EC Directive on fuel quality come to an end. The car industry's claims that high sulphur levels are inhibiting advances in emission reduction technology and fuel efficient engines are supported by catalyst manufacturers and two new US studies.
