Interest grows in label for products from sustainable forests

Companies selling 14% of the wood and paper products consumed in the UK have now signed up to a scheme which commits them to sell only products bearing the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo after 1999. Major retailers such as B&Q and Sainsbury are already selling FSC-labelled products, and some local authorities have set FSC purchasing specifications. But many small forest owners still regard certification as an added expense bringing no benefit.
