New treaty on access to justice, environmental information

Drafting of a new pan-European Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters was completed by the UN Economic Commission for Europe in March. The treaty is likely to widen current provisions for access to environmental information and the scope for challenging official decisions at EC level, and may also force changes in UK rules for public participation in environmental decision-making.
