Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is recruiting a new chair after Peter Matthews announced he was stepping down.
Matthews, who previously worked at the European Water Association and the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution, oversaw the creation of NRW as a new environmental regulator for Wales in 2013 (endsreport.com/35110). He will step down from his post in August.
The job specification notes that NRW currently focuses on moving to integrated natural resource management, a role that will be legally reinforced in the forthcoming Environment Bill. The vacancy is open to applications until 1 April.
The chair will be appointed for a three-year term starting on 1 September. The advertised salary is £28,000 a year for about five days of work a month.
