Combustion plant proposal takes heat off existing plant

The European Commission has dropped plans for stringent limits on national emissions of acid gases under a revision of the 1988 EC Directive on large combustion plant. Instead, it has proposed tighter emission limits for new plants - including, for the first time, gas turbines - and measures to encourage the use of combined heat and power (CHP) and biomass.
