Testing the public mood on GM foods

Agricultural biotechnology businesses and US federal officials routinely profess bafflement about the degree of public hostility to genetically modified crops in Europe. In the USA, they say, large-scale growing of GM crops and the entry of GM products into the human food chain have attracted opposition from no more than a minority.
