Retailers "compromise integrity" of FSC label, says Tetra Pak
The integrity of the labelling scheme for paper products operated by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is being compromised by retailers, according to Tetra Pak, the giant beverage carton producer. The company is criticising retailers for insisting that products made from recycled fibre, as well as those made from FSC-endorsed virgin fibre, should qualify for the label. Tetra Pak, whose own products are made entirely from virgin fibre, is also lobbying for the proportion of virgin fibre which must come from FSC-endorsed forests to be reduced.
