Aluminium industry on the spot over PAH air quality standard

The Government's Expert Panel on Air Quality Standards (EPAQS) has proposed a standard for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) which is widely exceeded in urban areas. 1 Its report also draws attention to the lack of monitoring data near industrial sources - notably the aluminium industry, which is a major source of the carcinogenic compounds.
