DTI prunes cost of end-of-life vehicles Directive

The Department of Trade and Industry has pared back its estimate of the annual cost of implementing the proposed EC Directive on end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) from £360-525 million to £380 million by 2015. Meanwhile, provisions making vehicle manufacturers solely responsible for meeting the cost of ELV take-back have been changed to allow Member States to share it between the various sectors.
