Directive on renewables wobbles in face of German opposition

The European Commission's plans for a Directive to support renewable energy in Europe's progressively liberalised electricity markets have been set back by Germany's concerns over the impact on its heavily protected renewables industry. The Commission's proposals include national targets for renewable energy and an EC-wide trade in "green power" certificates.
