Water pollution charges dropped, but pesticides tax draws closer
A pesticides tax is the sole survivor of the economic instruments for reducing water pollution mooted by the Government 18 months ago. Design work on a pesticides tax is now well advanced, with the favourite being a banded per kilogram tax raising some £100 million per year. But the Government is consulting further before deciding whether to proceed.
