£20,000 safety fine for Anglian
Anglian Water pleaded guilty to two health and safety offences before Kings Lynn magistrates after an employee was killed during a lifting operation. The court heard that a technician was killed while lifting a pump out of a shaft at a pumping station. Two technicians were using a chain and tripod, which was standing on a concrete plinth. One of the legs slipped as the pump swung away from the shaft, causing the tripod to collapse. One leg hit the technician on the head, killing him instantly and knocking his body down the shaft.
