Job opportunities in the environmental engineering sector are set to skyrocket, according to data from ENDSjobsearch.

Environmental engineering skills are in high demand as jobs in the area are set to experience some of the biggest growth figures in the environmental sector.

Data from ENDSjobsearch reveals that in the first three months of 2015 there were more than double (268%) the number of engineering jobs advertised on the site than the whole of 2014. Sustainability jobs are also seeing a big boost with 44% more jobs advertised in the first three months of this year than the whole of last year.

These figures are in line with overall trends for the environmental sector, which show that the number of environment jobs advertised on ENDSjobsearch in January to March 2015 is already 56% more than the whole of 2014.

Early indications also show that skills in renewable energy, ecology/conservation and contaminated land are also in high demand this year.

Ben Goodson from ENDSjobsearch said: “It’s great to see jobs in the environment sector picking up the pace this year, and we may see figures reaching the high levels we saw back in 2013 after a dip last year.

“This is good news for candidates who are looking for roles in the environment sector, as more talent will have the opportunity to put their skills to good use and help organisations to achieve their aims. In turn, it’s also a good sign that environment organisations are investing in recruitment in order to help the country achieve a more sustainable future.

“It will be interesting to see the impact on sustainability jobs after the general election when the politicians’ green promises may begin to materialise.”
