MPs call for "energy hierarchy" as Ofgem shifts on energy efficiency

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee has urged the Government to streamline its policies on energy conservation - and to place efficiency at the top of a "sustainable energy hierarchy". 1 Energy regulator Ofgem has already met one of the Committee's key concerns by proposing to extend the life of electricity suppliers' domestic energy efficiency programmes and to apply similar obligations to the gas industry. 2
