Oil industry consults on drill cuttings legacy

Options for dealing with the 1.3 million cubic metres of drill cuttings which surround North Sea oil platforms were discussed at an oil industry stakeholders' meeting in February. Greenpeace favours taking the cuttings ashore for disposal, but an industry study claims that a lack of suitable disposal capacity in Scotland would make it necessary to transport the material to southern England. 1
