Recycling of CRTs and plastics vital to meeting electrical goods targets

'Strides' must be made in recycling plastics and cathode ray tubes (CRTs) if yields of useful material from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) are to be increased, according to a report by the Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling (ICER).1 For many types of equipment, current recycling yields will not meet the reuse and recycling targets in a proposed EC Directive.
