Company law review steers clear of mandatory green reporting
A Department of Trade and Industry group has recommended that companies should report annually on their environmental performance and liabilities - but stopped short of calling for reporting to be made mandatory. The group, examining proposals to reform company law, also wants directors' duties widened to cover environmental and social issues - but these would remain subordinate to the promotion of shareholder value.
