Court hears how half a tonne of depleted uranium went missing

A prosecution for the illegal disposal of more than half a tonne of depleted uranium found dumped on farmland in Northamptonshire has resulted in a surprisingly mild sentence. Jenny Seward, the company director who arranged the disposal operation, was fined just £4,000 and her prison sentence was suspended. The case reveals weaknesses in the regulation of radioactive materials.
