Corporate killing proposals to sharpen up safety management

Proposals for a new offence of corporate killing in England and Wales were unveiled in a Home Office consultation paper on 23 May. 1 Company directors will also be exposed to the risk of prosecution for two new involuntary manslaughter offences if found directly liable for deaths - but the Government has declined to go further by making directors automatically liable where their company is convicted of corporate killing.
