IPPC "general binding rules" take shape

Several industry sectors have expressed interest in the development of "general binding rules" (GBRs) to reduce the burden of site-specific permitting under the 1996 EC Directive on integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC). Intensive pig and poultry installations may be the first to benefit, and GBRs for some food and drink manufacturers are also in the pipeline.
