Review fails to dispel fear of liver cancer link to 1970s incinerators
A review of an epidemiological study has confirmed findings of an increased incidence of liver cancer in people living close to municipal waste incinerators operating in the 1970s. 1 The review has eliminated misdiagnosis as a factor in the result, suggesting that the small excess of cases found may be real - albeit of limited relevance to modern incinerators which operate under stricter controls.
