Sainsbury's fined for oil pollution
Sainsbury's was fined £2,500 with £1,534 costs by Hertford magistrates on 14 July after admitting polluting the river Lea with oil at Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, in May last year. The incident occurred when around 2,000 litres of diesel from the company's distribution centre entered the river through surface water drains.
