Castle and Agency cross swords over definition of waste

Castle Cement has been granted leave to apply for judicial review of the Environment Agency's insistence that fuels blended from chemical wastes should fall under waste management controls. The move coincides with implementation of the EC Directive on hazardous waste incineration which has forced at least two UK cement plants to cease burning waste-derived fuels.
