Government advisers urge more landfilling of radioactive waste

The Government should consider encouraging landfill disposal for low-level radioactive wastes from sources such as hospitals and universities in order to save money and conserve space at the Drigg disposal site in Cumbria, according to a report from the Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee (RWMAC). 1 However, the landfill industry appears to be less than enthusiastic about the idea.
