DTI delays plans for producer responsibility for tyres

Plans for a consultation paper on producer responsibility for tyres have been postponed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - possibly because of a tussle between car manufacturers and tyre producers over who should bear the costs. Meanwhile, the latest figures on used tyres show no progress in the reuse and recovery rate since 1995.
