Scottish study charts growth in unlicensed activities under landfill tax

Current arrangements to collect waste data in Scotland are "patchy and inconsistent", according to a review of the effects of the landfill tax for the Scottish Executive by Environ UK.1 But the report identifies a substantial diversion of inert wastes from landfill, and a growth in land spreading, since the tax was introduced.
