Local residents remain fearful of dumped Byker ash

Local residents have criticised as incomplete a report on the potential health effects of the dumping of contaminated ash from the Byker incinerator in Newcastle on allotments and parks.1 Both the Environment Agency and the Food Standards Agency say the ash is unlikely to have caused any significant health effects, but some sites may require remediation and be classified as "contaminated land".
