Wildcat oil in the White House
It might be valid to observe how swiftly the leading figures in the new US administration have been suffused with the arrogance of power had the electoral process which brought them into office not been so corrupted by corporate dollars. Never mind that diplomats from around the world have spent the last six years painfully stitching together a near deal on the Kyoto Protocol. Never mind, either, the recent warnings from the hundreds of top scientists who have worked together on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. President Bush contends that scientific knowledge about climate change is "incomplete"; and he is "opposed" to the Protocol because it sets no targets for developing nations such as China and India.
