Offshore operators given easy ride by IPPC regulations

Regulations applying EC rules on integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) to offshore combustion installations come into force shortly. Estimated costs to operators are up to £300 million - but the Department of Trade and Industry has allowed existing installations a generous six years before coming under the regime, and has also introduced a very narrow information disclosure regime.
