UK industry faces small costs from Directive on SCCPs

Compliance costs for the proposed EC Directive on short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) will be less than expected because the two sectors involved have drastically cut their use of the chemicals, according to a consultation paper from the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR).1 The main argument now will be over extending the Directive's scope to bring it into line with a Paris Convention agreement.
