Commission revises "biowaste" plan

A host of detailed changes have been made in the second draft of a European Commission paper setting out ideas for future EC legislation on biological treatment of biodegradable waste.1 The proposals now seem less likely to affect land spreading of industrial wastes or to require pre-treatment of all biodegradable municipal waste before landfilling. But the requirements on composting or digestion of municipal waste have been left largely intact.
