NiCds ban in 2008 retained in batteries proposal

A ban on nickel/cadmium (NiCd) batteries from 2008 and the introduction of collection and recycling targets for all batteries from 2004 are the key provisions in the latest draft of the European Commission's proposals for an EC batteries Directive. Member States would also be obliged to inform consumers which batteries were the most "environmentally friendly" in different applications.
