Burial of solvent drums costs steel firm £21,000

Vernon Stainless, a Lancashire steel cutter and distributor, was ordered to pay £21,000 after it dumped 26 drums containing highly flammable chemicals at its factory site. Local residents were evacuated before the drums were removed because of the risk of explosion.
