Radioactive discharges from defence sites
In an important judgment which will have come as a relief to the Government, the High Court has held that EC rules requiring authorities granting radioactive discharge consents to consider questions of justification do not apply to military defence installations. The case has dealt with a number of substantial issues concerning legal principles governing the control of radioactive discharges which also have implications for the handling of civil nuclear applications.
