The annual crop of algal blooms has appeared in fresh and surface waters. The Environment Agency reports sewage-like Phaeocystis off the Devon and South Wales coasts, while the orange Noctiluca has appeared off North Wales. The Agency blames the wet winter for washing nutrients into the sea coupled with warm weather in May.
