Public esteem for chemicals sector in "continual decline"

Public perception of the chemical industry and its products has been in "slow but continual decline" over many years, according to a review for the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution (RCEP).1 The perception of the industry is so poor that it is at risk of a sudden public reaction - such as a boycott or violent protest - triggered by minor events outside its control.
