Debate on chemicals White Paper rolls on in the Lords

Chemical industry groups are developing detailed proposals to steer the European Commission's thinking on registration, authorisation, testing and data collection now that Environment Ministers have laid down guidelines for impending EC legislation on chemicals, a House of Lords inquiry heard in July. The industry shares common ground with environmental and animal welfare organisations in criticising the Commission's proposed programme for testing tens of thousands of chemicals within a decade - though their counter-proposals differ.
