Nirex and environmental groups shift ground on nuclear waste

The terrorist attacks on America have forced environmental groups to review their demands for indefinite surface storage of nuclear waste, a parliamentary inquiry has heard. Meanwhile, Nirex has accepted that it, or any successor radioactive waste management organisation, must be independent of the nuclear industry.
