Two pollution fines for Welsh Water

Welsh Water appeared in court twice in February to answer sewage pollution charges. The first case, heard by Wrexham magistrates on 7 February, followed the company's failure to respond to the collapse of a sewer at Llay near Wrexham on 6 June last year. Welsh Water's engineers realised that 900 metres of sewer had collapsed after an inspection by contractors. But the company failed to install equipment to pump sewage around the collapsed section until 3 July.
