More white river fines for Imerys

China clay giant Imerys has been fined £3,500 for twice polluting a Cornish river last year. The offences bring the company's total convictions to 14 since 1995, for which its fines have averaged less than £1,700 per offence. Despite the Environment Agency's public clamour for higher fines for polluters, the local region appears not to regard this as a priority.
