Sita fined £31,000 for landfill licence breaches

Britain's biggest waste firm, Sita, was fined £31,000 in January after admitting that soil contaminated with cyanide, lead and petrochemicals had spilled into an uncontained area at a landfill site. The site has been closed since November while Sita moves the waste back into a contained area.
