Ministers agree rules on major hazards, packaging

Outline agreements on two Directives controlling major industrial hazards and setting new targets for recovery and recycling of packaging waste were reached by EU Environment Ministers on 25 June. Progress on another two important Directives on environmental liability and greenhouse gas emissions trading proved elusive - although Denmark, which is now in the Council Presidency, has now made both measures a priority.
