Agency inspections fall - and fall again

The number of inspections of industrial and waste sites carried out by the Environment Agency slumped by almost a fifth in 2001/02 - and there was a further reduction in the first quarter of this year. The Agency has warned that an impending tough financial settlement from the Government for next year could lead to a further squeeze on its enforcement work.
