Another puny fine for illegal chemical waste operation

The lenient attitude of some courts to serious waste offences has been underlined by a £350 fine imposed on an operator who brought almost 100 tonnes of hazardous chemical residues and asbestos waste onto an unlicensed site only a short distance from a primary school. And the costs award covered just 1% of the expenses incurred by two local authorities in investigating and cleaning up the operation.
